Jo Raill

Tutor

Jo was drawn to all things earthy from an early age. She trained as a horticulturist and this early experience with clay carried into her career in art. She graduated from Otago Polytechnic with a Diploma in Ceramics in 2007 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts at Elam in 2016.

Jo is skilled at wheel throwing and a competent hand builder.

​

Jo is an experienced tutor having taught pottery since 2007 at many venues including Unitec, Auckland Studio Potters and Selwyn College.

​

Jo also tutors at Auckland Studio Potters and the Clay centre.

Aidan Raill

Tutor

After studying ceramics at Otago Polytechnic, I worked as a ceramic technician at ASP and The Clay Centre while pursuing my own practice. This period sparked my love for teaching. My work is driven by curiosity and a desire to explore new techniques, which I enjoy sharing with students. It's always exciting to see how they develop what they've learned.

I create domestic ware, displayed in the mug shop and sometimes at markets, as well as experimental pieces featured in our gallery, exhibitions, and competitions around New Zealand. Some of my work can be seen on my Instagram page:
